Why I run laughter events

Laughter Clubs are held in India, North America, and around the world.

There are organised programmes which take laughter into public places, and institutions such as prisons.

Laughter can be used as a meditation, to break down barriers, improve health and bring a sense of well-being.

My own introduction to Laughter Clubs was through the International Art Of Living Foundation. I had been learning meditation and yoga. One day my teacher read us a note from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the organisation, encouraging us to bring more laughter to public places!

A small group of us met in our homes where we started to play with laughter, experienced the benefits, and came up with some of the exercises outlined later.

The International Art Of Living Foundation is a United Nations accredited NGO. It sponsors projects worldwide, including programmes for people living with HIV and cancer, rehabilitative training for prisoners, and vocational training for rural people in Asia. Their website is: www.artofliving.org
